Former Judge of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Dharam Veer Sharma passed away yesterday after a prolonged illness. He was 73 years old. After his retirement in the year 2010, he had moved to Lucknow with the family.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, offered his condolences to the family in a tweet.

Justice Dharam Veer Sharma was one of the three judges who gave their verdict in the Ayodhya title dispute In the year 2010. Justice Dharam Veer Sharma, Justice Sibghat Ullah Khan and Justice Sudhir Agarwal comprised the Special Full Bench of the High Court of Allahabad who gave this Judgment in the year 2010.
Justice Dharam Veer Sharma (the dissenter) had rejected the Muslim case in too, however, all the three judges had agreed on one crucial point—the idol was planted in the mosque on the night of December 22-23, 1949.
In his dissenting note, he had said,
"It is established that the property in suit is the site of Janm Bhumi of Ram Chandra Ji and Hindus in general had the right to worship Charan, Sita Rasoi, other idols and other object of worship existed upon the property in suit. It is also established that Hindus have been worshipping the place in dispute as Janm Sthan i.e. a birth place as deity and visiting it as a sacred place of pilgrimage as of right since time immemorial."
Justice Sharma Graduated in Arts in the year 1967 and passed LL.B. in the year 1970.
Served as Principal Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of U.P., Lucknow from Aug. 2003 to Aug. 2004 and Principal Secretary (Judicial) & L.R. Govt. of U.P., Lucknow from Aug. 2004 to Oct. 2005.
Appointed in P.C.S.(J) in the year 1972 and promoted in Higher Judicial Service in the year 1985. Promoted in the year 2002 as District & Sessions Judge.
Elevated as Additional Judge on October 10, 2005, and took oath as permanent Judge on September 17, 2007.
