Delhi Riots Larger Conspiracy Case: Court Grants Custody Parole To Meeran Haider For Appearing In UGC-NET Exam

A Delhi Court yesterday granted custody parole to Meeran Haider, accused in connection with Delhi riots larger conspiracy case, for appearing in a management exam in UGC- NET on November 30. A Delhi Court yesterday granted custody parole to Meeran Haider, accused in connection with Delhi riots larger conspiracy case, for appearing in a management exam in UGC- NET on November 30.
Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat allowed an application moved by Haider seeking custody prole for appearing for a Management exam (Business Admn. Mgt./Marketing/ Marketing Mg./Industrial Relations and Personal Mgt./Financial Mgt./Co-operative Management) scheduled to take place on November 30 as per the Public Notice.
The Court perused the verification report of the investigating officer and the admit card, details of which were checked online from UGC-NET portal and the same were found correct.
Noting that the prosecution had not raised any objection to the aforesaid application, the Court ordered thus:
"Considering the prayer of the applicant Meeran Haider, I am inclined to allow the said application. The present application is allowed and the applicant Meeran Haider is allowed custody parole to appear in the above mentioned examination to be held on 30.11.2021 at ENERVETIC ASSESSMENT CENTRE, Khasra No.401-402, Buiding no2, Kalu Ram Market, Ghitorni, near Ghitorni Metro Station, Delhi-110070 with entry timing from 07:20 am."
FIR 59/2020 registered against Haider contains stringent charges including Sections 13, 16, 17, 18 of the UAPA, Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act,1984 and other offences under Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Others who were charge-sheeted in FIR 59/2020 include Former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain, Jamia Coordination Committee members Safoora Zargar, Ishrar Jahan, Shifa-Ur-Rehman, activist Khalid Saifi, Shadab Ahmed, Tasleem Ahmed, Salim Malik, Mohd Salim Khan and Athar Khan.
A supplementary charge-sheet was thereafter filed in the case against former JNU student leader Umar Khalid and JNU student Sharjeel Imam.
