The Delhi High Court on Friday questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a look out circular issued against journalists Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy in 2019 and said that the agency “cannot continue (it) in perpetuity” and that the matter “cannot go on like this.”

Justice Prathiba M Singh was hearing a plea moved by Roys challenging the look out circular which was opened pursuant to the registration of two FIRs dated June 2, 2017 and August 19, 2019.

As the counsel appearing for CBI said that the look out circular is still continuing, the court orally said, “you cannot continue (it) in perpetuity.”

Observing that the matter cannot continue to go on like this, Justice Singh listed the case for hearing on April 28.

In June last year, Roys were permitted to travel abroad. The court had then noted that investigation is ongoing and no chargesheet has been filed by CBI.

It was also noted that an earlier LOC had expired on June 19, 2020 and that a second LOC was thereafter opened.

Perusing the affidavit filed on behalf of CBI, the court had noted that various allegations were levelled with respect to certain financial transactions which were undertaken by the duo in their capacity as being part of the management of New Delhi Television Ltd.
