Delhi Police on Thursday filed a cancellation report in the POCSO case against BJP MP and former Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. However, a chargesheet has been filed against him in a sexual harassment case.
Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava told the media that a charge sheet before Rouse Avenue Court has been filed under Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 354A (sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation) of IPC against Singh.
Regarding the POCSO case, Srivastava said a cancellation report has been filed before the Patiala House Courts and the matter has been fixed for further consideration on July 04.
In the sexual harassment case, ACMM Deepak Kumar of Rouse Avenue Court has fixed the matter for further consideration for taking cognizance of the chargesheet on June 22.
The BJP lawmaker has been accused of sexual harassment by women wrestlers. Delhi Police had registered two FIRs at the Connaught Place police station against Singh. One FIR was registered under various offences under Indian Penal Code, 1860 whereas the other FIR was registered under the POCSO Act.
The alleged incidents of sexual harassment are said to have occurred between 2016 and 2019 at the WFI office, at Singh’s official residence and also abroad, according to media reports. In the POCSO case, the minor had reportedly withdrawn her allegations against Singh.
