The Enforcement Directorate (ED) yesterday told a Delhi Court that the counsels appearing for the probe agency shall be sensitized, regarding making false submissions and their conduct, through a special programme.
Special Judge Jitendra Singh of Rouse Avenue Courts was hearing the money laundering case involving Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and other accused persons.
Last week, the judge had summoned ED Special Director after a counsel appearing for the probe agency addressed the court in offensive and derogatory manner with loud tone.
This was after an application was moved by one of the accused, Anjaneya Hanumanthaiah, seeking release of the loose sheet pages alongwith digital devices.
It was his case that since the ECIR qua him had already been quashed by the Supreme Court in March, it was the duty of the ED to release the articles in question.
The judge had taken exception to the submission made by ED counsel that he had specific instructions from “higher-ups” to seek adjournment for 15 days.
During the hearing yesterday, an application was moved by the Special Director stating that he was unable to come to Court due to some prior engagement. However, the Deputy Director was personally present in court.
The Deputy Director was informed about the conduct of counsels appearing for the ED. The official submitted that ED was seeking 10 days time to collect the articles as sought for in the application which were to be returned from FSL, Gandhinagar.
The judge directed the applicant and his counsel to remain personally present on December 04, the next date of hearing, for collecting the articles.
