The Crime Branch of the Kerala Police has moved a sessions court in the State seeking to cancel the bail granted to actor Dileep in the 2017 actor sexual assault case alleging that he has influenced witnesses and tampered with evidence in the case, thereby violating his bail conditions.
The Additional Sessions Court, (CBI Special Court), Ernakulam will consider the matter on April 26. The Crime Branch has simultaneously moved another plea to question court staff regarding the leaking of visuals of the incident which will also be taken up by the same court.
In 2017, a popular Malayalam actress was abducted and raped in a moving vehicle pursuant to a conspiracy, allegedly plotted by Dileep. Being the 8th accused in the case, he is now undergoing trial as the alleged mastermind of the abduction and the sexual assault before the CBI Special Judge.
When the case was progressing, Dileep was arrested and sent to jail. Although his first two bail applications were rejected, the High Cort granted him bail with conditions on his third application on 3 October 2017. It is against this bail that the Crime Branch has moved the Sessions Court now.
In the plea, it has also been alleged that the hash value of the memory card which contained the visuals, which is in the custody of the trial court, was altered.
