In order to break the chain of deadly Covid-19 virus, the Jharkhand State Bar Council has resolved to restrain all the Advocates across the states and their staff, from undertaking any Court work, whether physical or online.
The resolution has been put to effect for seven days, starting April 19 (Monday).
The Council has taken note that a huge section of the legal fraternity has fallen prone to the virus and in order to control its spread, strict measures are required.
The resolution stated,
"Jharkhand State Bar Council convened an urgent meet today i.e. on 18.04.2021 to discuss the circumstances related to COVID 19 pandemic. It was noted with serious concern that a large number of Advocates and their support staff have fallen ill, and several precious lives have also been lost. The medical facilities and supplies are grossly unsatisfactory. Under the circumstances, strict measures are required to not only break the COVID 19 spread but also to provide some time to improve the medical facilities and supplies.
Therefore, an unanimous decision has been taken by the Council that for seven days, with effect from tomorrow i.e. 19.4.2021, all the Advocates of the state of Jharkhand shall completely restrain themselves and their support staff who work upon their respective directions, from all court works- whether physical or online, and whether at High Court or at District Courts or Sub Divisional Level Courts or Tribunals or any other Court by whatever nomenclature known."
Further decision on the matter shall be taken by a review meet of the Council scheduled next Sunday i.e. on 25.04.2021.
