To ensure that there is no congregation in the court complex and to avoid the spread of Covid-19 in the court complexes, the Gujarat High Court today issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the functioning of subordinate courts in the state with effect from January 24 till further orders.
It may be noted that in view of the fact that a large number of Covid-19 positive cases are being reported every day in all the districts, the Court has already restarted the functioning of the District and Trial Courts.
On January 7, 2022, the Court ordered that all district and Taluka Courts would function in virtual mode namely only through video conferencing w.e.f. 10.01.2022.
Further, in light of requests received from the Gujarat State Bar Council and different Taluka Bar Associations, the SOP Committee constituted for monitoring the working of the District and Taluka Courts was convened by the Chief Justice on January 18, 2022, and which was attended to by the members of the Task Force constituted by the Government of Gujarat.
In the background of opinion expressed by the members of the Task Force, the SOP committee has resolved to commence limited physical functioning of the Trial Courts in certain districts, where the Corona cases are less than 100, subject to restrictions and conditions suggested at the joint meeting.
The conditions are mentioned in the SOP attached below:
