COVID-19: Uttarakhand HC Seeks Feasibility Report On Setting Up More Testing Facilities In The State [Read Order]

The High Court bench comprising of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Ravindra Maithani was informed that presently, only three facilities for testing COVID-19 patients were available in the state and there was a common consensus among all the concerned authorities including the Union of India with regards the desirability of setting up three more facilities.

Accordingly, Assistant Solicitor General of India Rakesh Thapliyal representing the Union of India undertook to seek instructions from the Ministry concerned and apprise the court about the feasibility in this direction.

As per the suggestion, three testing laboratories may be made functional at Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital/Ramnagar.

Further, the bench sought a detailed report as to the measures taken by the Central and the state governments to ensure availability of PPE for all the doctors, para-medics, nurses, etc., in compliance with the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry as well as the WHO.

The court also asked the Advocate General to apprise it with any additional measures that may be incorporated in the main and most frequently visited Government hospitals of the State, so that the doctors who are examining the patients in their OPD are properly protected in these times.
