COVID-19: Regular Work Suspended In Allahabad HC, NCLT Bench & Subordinate Courts; Only Urgent Cases To Be Listed [Read Circulars]

The Allahabad High Court on Monday restricted its functioning to hear only urgent matters forthwith, as a preventive and remedial measure to combat the impending threat of COVID-19 pandemic.
The high court has also requested the UP state government to deploy adequate medical staff at its premises to ensure thermal screening and also to set up a Laboratory so as to conduct pathological tests for Novel Coronavirus. That apart, the following measures will be observed:
- Courts will not insist on the presence of the parties, unless it is unavoidable;
- No adverse/default orders will be passed against non-appearance of parties and the matter will be rotated to another date;
- All stakeholders, including the judges will leave high court premises by 5pm
- Mediation proceedings will stand suspended till further notice
- High Court Museum, Advocates' Canteen and meeting halls of Bar Association will remain closed.
Similar instructions have also been issued to all the District and Session Courts, MACT and Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authorities, where regular work has been suspended till March 21.
Inter alia, the NCLT bench at Allahabad has also taken similar steps and has adjourned all cases till March 27.
For urgent hearings, the Advocates have been advised to submit an application in that regard to the Registrar of the Tribunal and inform the opposing counsel. After verification of the urgency, the matter will be considered by the Tribunal.
