COVID-19: Only Fresh Matters Of Extremely Urgent Nature To Be Moved, Exemplary Costs To Be Imposed Otherwise: Bombay HC [Read Circulars]

In wake of the curfew imposed all over the State of Maharashtra and various parts of the country in order to combat the pandemic of Covid-19 or CoronaVirus, the Bombay High Court modified its previous directions and issued a circular on Monday which is valid till March 31, 2020, declaring that only fresh matters of extremely urgent nature will be heard on March 26 and March 30.
The circular states that if it is found that matters which are not so urgent have been moved then exemplary costs will be imposed.
Furthermore, here will be one Court for hearing all civil matters and one for taking all criminal matters. The fresh matters of extremely urgent nature can be presented to respective single judges at 12 noon on March 26 and March 30.
Previously, the Chief Justice had directed the principal seat in Bombay, benches at Aurangabad, Nagpur and High Court of Bombay at Goa to hear only extremely urgent matters on March 23 and March 26.
In the circular dated March 19, it was stated that praecipe for circulation for March 26 would be sent on March 23, however, as of now all praecipes forwarded for placing matters on March 26 stand cancelled.Read Circulars
