COVID-19: NCLAT Withdraws Roster For Urgent Listing; Limitation Extended From March 15 Till Further Orders [Read Notice]

On March 20, the Tribunal had restricted its functioning to hear only urgent matters till April 1, upon mentioning as per the roster issued separately. It had also extended the operation of all interim orders.

The same now stands withdrawn due to the stringent preventive measures and lockdown. However, it has been intimated that the concerned counsels may contact the Registrar telephonically for listing of urgent matter/s on any day before April 1.

The limitation period has also been extended accordingly, with effect from March 15 till further order/s.

Notably, the Supreme Court had on Monday passed a general order extending the limitation period for all the courts and tribunals across the country, whether condonable or not, with effect from March 15, until further orders.

"To obviate such difficulties and to ensure that lawyers/litigants do not have to come physically to file such proceedings in respective Courts/Tribunals across the country including this Court, it is hereby ordered that a period of limitation in all such proceedings, irrespective of the limitation prescribed under the general law or Special Laws whether condonable or not shall stand extended w.e.f. 15th March 2020 till further order/s to be passed by this Court in present proceedings", a SC bench had ordered.
