Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha inaugurated the newly constructed Record and Victim Rest Rooms at the District Court in Surajpur on Friday. Justice AK Prasad also graced the event.
The virtual inauguration, which took place at 10:00 a.m., was addressed by the Chief Justice, who informed the gathering that the new facilities at the District Court Complex aim to provide a supportive and harmonious environment for victims of sexual harassment, ensuring they have a safe and dignified space during their time at the court.
Addressing the event, the Chief Justice said that during the inspection of Surajpur District Court, he learned that ancient records dating back to 1949 are available in the Record Room, but there was no proper arrangement for maintaining them.
He further emphasized that a new Record Room had been constructed as part of this initiative, expressing his satisfaction in seeing the records now safely stored and well-organized.
Chief Justice Sinha also highlighted the importance of the newly constructed Victim Rest Room, which he claimed was designed to create a supportive and welcoming environment for victims of sexual harassment within the court premises.
He said that when victims of the POCSO Act will be present in the newly constructed restroom, they would feel more secure and that there would be no inconvenience of any kind in giving testimony regarding their case.
The Registrar General of the Hon'ble Chhattisgarh High Court, other Officers of the Registry, district Judges of Surajpur District, Judicial Officers, Administrative Officers and Police Officers, Advocates, and representatives of print and electronic media were present at the above-mentioned virtual inauguration.
