In A First, Chhattisgarh HC Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Virtually Monitors National Lok Adalat Across 23 Districts

On Saturday, the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Justice Ramesh Sinha, virtually connected with all 23 districts from the High Court to oversee the progress of this year's second National Lok Adalat.
The Lok Adalat held this time was unique in the sense that it was closely supervised by Chief Justice Sinha, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority.
Inspired by his leadership, other High Court Judges visited their respective portfolio districts, ensuring thorough monitoring and successful organization of the Lok Adalat, which satisfied numerous litigants.
During a virtual session with a Magistrate Court in Raigarh District, Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha witnessed the resolution of a domestic violence case involving an elderly couple. This amicable settlement underscored the effectiveness of virtual monitoring.
Chief Justice Sinha commended both litigants for their efforts and extended his best wishes for their future, highlighting the importance of maintaining a human touch in judicial proceedings.
Chief Justice Sinha also visited two benches constituted for the National Lok Adalat for the High Court of Bilaspur. In addition to the visit, his Lord utilized virtual platforms to connect with and monitor the proceedings in all 23 districts.
This innovative approach will ensure transparency and highlight the commitment to leverage technology to enhance judicial processes. Chief Justice Sinha's virtual presence and real-time interaction with Principal District Judges exemplified a new era of judicial oversight and public trust.
Chief Justice Sinha's initiative extended to ensuring the presence of Hon'ble High Court Judges in their respective districts, bolstering public trust and the credibility of the National Lok Adalats across Chhattisgarh.
This hands-on approach, coupled with virtual oversight from Bilaspur, is likely to bring transparency and efficiency in resolving disputes, from Taluka courts to the High Court.
The concerted efforts of the judiciary, spearheaded by Hon'ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha, culminated in a historically successful Lok Adalat, characterized by numerous amicable resolutions and happy litigants. This initiative sets a new standard for future Lok Adalats, showcasing the potential of virtual monitoring and on-ground involvement in delivering justice effectively and compassionately.
This National Lok Adalat was organized within the State across all levels including Taluka Courts, District Courts, Tribunal and Forums and High Court through 605 benches constituted for the same, and the final data revealed staggering success with settlement of total 8,31,848 cases comprising 7,66,629 pre-litigation cases and 65,129 pending cases, extending financial relief totaling to ₹ 2,30,09,55,219. Various disputes, including labor disputes, motor accident claims, cheque dishonor cases, civil cases, land acquisition cases, plea bargaining, criminal compoundable offenses, arbitration cases, matrimonial cases, and issues related to electricity and water bills were addressed for settlement in this National Lok Adalat.
Chief Justice Sinha extended his heartfelt thanks to the Portfolio Judges who visited their Respective Portfolio Districts on the occasion of conduct of National Lok Adalat. Chief Justice also thanked all the Presiding Judges of the two benches constituted for the High Court.
He also expressed his thanks to the esteemed Principal District Judges of all 23 District Courts, Presiding officers and members of all the benches, including the deployed staff, PLVs, Officers of other departments, and all stakeholders who have directly or indirectly contributed to the disposal process, as well as the print and electronic media that have amplified the relevance of Lok Adalat.
Lastly, the Chief Justice also expressed his thanks to the litigants, who have braved the challenges of weather and long journeys to make this Lok Adalat a historic success.
