    The Principal Sessions Court, Chennai, on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji till July 12.

    Balaji was produced before the Principal Sessions Judge S. Alli via video conferencing. When asked how his health was now, Balaji informed the judge that he was still suffering from pain.

    Balaji is currently undergoing treatment at Kauvery Hospital, Chennai after the Madras High Court allowed his transfer to the private hospital for continuing treatment.

    On June 14, Balaji was remanded to judicial custody for a period of two weeks which ended on June 28. On June 16, the Principal Sessions Judge granted the Enforcement Directorate 8 days to interrogate Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji in connection with the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. 

    On June 24, the ED submitted a memo to the Judge saying that they were unable to interrogate Balaji due to his treatment at the Hospital and sought to withdraw the police custody.
