Centre Notifies Transfer Of Justice Joymalya Bagchi From Andhra Pradesh High Court to Calcutta High Court

The Central government has notified the transfer of Justice Joymalya Bagchi back to his parent High Court, the Calcutta High Court from Andhra Pradesh High Court where he is currently serving.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Joymalya Bagchi, Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court, as a Judge of Calcutta High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Calcutta High Court," the notification issued by the Law Ministry stated. 

The Supreme Court collegium had recommended Justice Bagchi's transfer back to the Calcutta High Court on September 16. 

Last year, the collegium had recommended to transfer Justice Bagchi from Calcutta to Andhra Pradesh High Court on December 14, 2020.
