Centre Notifies Transfer Of Judges To Allahabad And P&H High Courts

The Central government has notified the transfer of judges to High Courts of Allahabad and Punjab & Haryana.
The notifications released today make the following transfers:
Justice Biswanath Somadder been transferred from the Calcutta High Court to the Allahabad High Court with directions to assume charge by October 17.
Justice P. V. Sanjay Kumar, currently a Judge of the Telangana High Court, has been transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court with directions to assume charge by October 17.
Justice Vivek Agarwal, who is presently a Judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court with directions to assume charge by October 17.
Justice Somadder enrolled as an Advocate in 1989 after obtaining his LL.B. degree from the University of Calcutta. During his practice before the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court, he specialized in Constitutional Law, Arbitration and Revenue matters. He served as the Senior Counsel for the Central Government in the Calcutta High Court at Calcutta and was also the Joint Secretary of the Bar Library Club of Calcutta High Court.
He was elevated to the Bench of the Calcutta High Court as a permanent Judge on June 22, 2006. In November 2018, he was appointed as the Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal, and was appointed as Judge-in-Charge, Administrative Department, High Court at Calcutta, to discharge the functions assigned under the Appellate Side Rules. He also served as the Acting Chief Justice between January 1 and April 3, this year.
Justice Sanjay Kumar enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1988 after obtaining his LLB degree from the Delhi University. He practiced at the offices of his father, Late Sri P.Ramachandra Reddy, former Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh until 1982. Thereafter, he practiced independently, representing companies like Hindusthan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited. He also served as a Government Pleader in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh between 2000 and 2003.
He was elevated to the bench as an Additional Judge on August 8, 2008 and was made a permanent judge of the high court on January 20, 2010.
Before being appointed as Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh in April, 2016, Justice Agarwal practiced civil, criminal and constitution matters at the High Court of Madhya Pradesh. He was made a permanent Judge of the high court on March 17, 2018.
The recommendations for their transfer had been made by resolutions passed on August 28, this year.
