Centre Notifies Appointment Of Wasim Sadiq Nargal As J&K&L HC Judge

The Central Government on Wednesday notified the appointment of Advocate Wasim Sadiq Nargal as an additional judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The name of Wasim Sadiq Nargal was recommended by the J&K High Court way back in August 2017. In April 2018, the Supreme Court collegium approved his name. However, the Centre returned his name.

The SC collegium reiterated its decision on Nargal in 2021. 

In a related development, the Centre today notified the transfer of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur from J&K&L High Court to Bombay High Court. So, even with the appointment of Wasim Sadiq Nargal, the strength of the High Court will remain the same - 15. The sanctioned strength is 17.
