A city court in Bengaluru on Monday granted bail to Janata Dal (S) MLC Suraj Revanna, who was arrested in a case of alleged sexual abuse of a man.

The 42 Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted bail to the accused upon him executing a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh and with two sureties to the satisfaction of the jurisdictional court. The court also granted him anticipatory bail in the second complaint filed against him on similar charges.

The police had arrested Revanna for the offences punishable under Sections 377, 342, 506, read with Section 34 of IPC.

The court has directed Suraj to not threaten and tamper with the prosecution witnesses or the complainant and victim. He shall not evade the Investigation and shall appear before the I.O. whenever called by him for the purpose of investigation.

Further, he was directed to furnish his passport to the Court and shall not leave the State without obtaining written permission from the Court.

He is also directed to appear before the investigating officer every second Sunday of the month and mark his attendance between 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. for a period of 6 months or till the filing of the charge sheet.

On June 22, a youth filed a complaint with Holenarasipur Rural Police alleging sexual harassment by Suraj Revanna. He alleged that Suraj had sexually assaulted him and one H.L. Shivakumar had threatened him with murder if he complained to the police about the harassment.
