Bar Council Of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Bars Practice Of Two More Lawyers Over Arrest In POCSO Case, Complaint For House Trespass

The prohibitory order comes days after the Bar Council passed similar orders against two lawyers for professional misconduct and suppressing the factum of being a full-time employee.

A.P. Bala Subramani has been suspended on the basis of a complaint received under Section 35 of Advocates Act, 1961 that a criminal case has been registered against him under various provisions of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

The said case has been registered on the file of the All Women Police Station, Thallakulam, Madurai District and he has been arrested and confined in judicial custody.

Another lawyer, M. Nagaraj, was barred from practice on account of a complaint alleging that he illegally trespassed into the property of the complainant's daughter along with 14 other lawyers, erected a name board of 'Phoenix Law Associates' on the said property and meted out life threats to the complainant's family. He is also accused of demanding Rs. 20 lakhs for vacating the premises.

Through a notification dated 15^th December, the Council had also passed prohibitory order against E. Vimal Kumar for professional misconduct, based on the complaints received that alleged swindling of money and giving death threats to a woman and her intellectually disabled son. Another lawyer, B. Ilayaraja, faced disciplinary action on the ground that he was working as a full-time employee in Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC).
