In yet another incident of Lawyer appearing before the Court in a 'discourteous manner', the Allahabad High Court yesterday reprimanded a Lawyer who appeared through VC mode accompanied by another person who was visible on screen, "bare body and without a shirt"
The Bench of Justice Jaspreet Singh observed that it is the responsibility of a Lawyer to ensure that there is no such incident where people inappropriately dressed appear in the virtual room from where the solemn Court proceedings are being conducted.
The Court in its order noted that despite informing the Lawyer to disconnect the call, he remained connected. However, later on, he expressed his regret and apologies.
"This conduct and manner with which the learned counsel have treated the virtual hearing so casually is not only appalling but is discourteous and shocking and such behavior and mannerism cannot be tolerated," noted the Court.
Reprimanding the Lawyer for his conduct, the Court warned him that he should take the appropriate care in the future while appearing before the Court and ensure that decency and decorum is maintained at all times.
"It is his responsibility to ensure that there is no such incident were people inappropriately dressed appears in the virtual room from where the solemn Court proceedings are being conducted," concluded the Court.
In related news, the Allahabad High Court yesterday termed the act of the lawyer as 'unacceptable' who was trying to dress himself up while the Court was dictating the Order in a bail application.
Listing the matter as fresh on July 26, the Bench of Justice Samit Gopal said:
"Learned counsel appearing for the applicant is not in proper uniform as per the modalities of functioning of the Court. He is trying to dress up, when the order is being dictated. This is not acceptable."
Last week the Allahabad High Court had pulled up a lawyer who, while sitting in the car, was trying to argue the case from the car itself. The Allahabad High Court had also directed the Registrar General, High Court to frame a set of rules for 'do's and don'ts' for the lawyers while addressing the Courts.
The Court expressed its shock when the learned counsel for a bail applicant while sitting in a car, wanted to address the Court on the merits of the case and remarked:
"The lawyers must bear in their mind that they are participating in a solemn proceeding before the courts and not sitting in their drawing rooms or passing leisurely time."
