'Scrutinise All His Verdicts': Allahabad HC Bar Association Seeks Justice Yashwant Varma's Impeachment, ED/CBI Probe Against Him

Association has specifically requested the CJI to immediately recommend to the government to draw impeachment proceedings against Justice Yashwant Varma

Stating that the in-house inquiry initiated against Justice Varma is 'Questionable' and 'Unacceptable' to the judicial fraternity, the Association also sought that all the judgments passed by Justice Varma to date should be scrutinised.

“Continuance of Justice Yashwant Varma any further is dangerous for the democracy as it eroded 'Public Faith' which is the only power available with judicial system. If faith gone, everything gone and nation will collapse" : Bar Association has said in its resolution.

The Association's resolution also requests CJI to immediately permit the filing of an FIR and investigation by the CBI, ED and other investigative agencies and, if needed, Justice Varma be taken into custody for questioning.

Notably, soon after the passing of resolution, which once again opposed any proposal to transfer Justice Varma to the Allahabad High Court, the Supreme Court collegium recommended his transfer to the Allahabad HC.
