Allahabad HC Transfers Judge After He Allegedly Ordered A Police Man To Take Off Uniform

After a judge in Agra allegedly asked a police constable to remove his uniform in court as punishment for not giving passage to his car, the Allahabad High Court ordered his transfer, reports the Hindustan Times.

On Saturday, the Registrar General of the High Court ordered the transfer of Judge Santhosh Kumar Yadav, from the post of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Agra to that of Secretary(full time), District Legal Services Authority of Mahoba.

The transfer was ordered after the Agra SSP forwarded a report on the incident to the state DGP and senior judicial officers at the Allahabad HC.

The police officer was 58 years old Ghurelal, a driver with Agra police, who was allegedly called to the court and asked to take off his shirt, belt and cap and made to stand in court for almost an hour on Friday. 

As per a report in The Hindu, the police man broke down after the incident, and wrote to the district police chief seeking voluntary retirement.
