The All India People Front has moved the Allahabad High Court against a Government notification restricting all the Government Hospitals, Private Hospitals and the Nursing Homes in the State from opening the OPD and treating the non-COVID patients.

On March 31, 2020, the State Government had issued a notification whereby inter alia, the Government Hospitals, Private Hospitals and the Nursing Homes in the State were restricted from admitting "routine cases" in the OPD section and it was ordered that only "emergency cases" of non-Covid patients will be admitted thereon.

The petition filed through the party's spokesperson and former IPS officer, SR Darapuri, states that since the disease is likely to stay with us until a vaccine is discovered, it is necessary to have a separate set up/ infrastructure for treatment of corona cases.

The Petitioner-organization has therefore requested that the Government notification be quashed to the above extent and the state be directed to create separate infrastructure for treatment of corona patients and to resume the facilities for treatment of non-Covid patients, by opening of OPDs for "routine cases".

"issue a writ or direction of pass an order in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents-authorities to ensure proper medical services is provided by the Government Hospitals, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes of the State to all the patients suffering from various ailments, diseases, etc., whether they are COVID patients or non- COVID patients," the plea drawn by Advocate Pranjal Shukla states..

The Petitioner-organization has also sought a probe into the tragic death of a 30-year-old pregnant woman in Noida last week, who was denied admission by as many as eight hospitals, due to non-availability of beds.

The matter is likely to be taken up by the High Court in the next week.
