A Mumbai based lawyer has filed a criminal complaint against actor Kangana Ranaut before the Andheri Magistrate Court for allegedly causing disharmony between Hindus and Muslims and for allegedly mocking the judiciary after a Magistrate Court in Bandra ordered FIR to be registered against the siblings.
Advocate Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh sought FIR to be registered against the actor under Sections 121, 124A, 153A, 153B, 295A, 298, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code. Referring to a previous complaint filed by him against the sisters, the advocate states-
"I have already filed a private complaint in the Andheri Magistrate Court against Ms.Kangana Ranaut and Ms. Rangoli Chandel dated July 27, 2020 for indulging in unlawful, illegal and criminal acts willingly by maliciously spreading/promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony in the country by way of mischievously and spitefuly posting frivolous, derogatory and defamatory posts with the intent to outrage religious feelings of a class by insulting its religion or religious feelings/sentiments more specifically against Islam, Muslims."
The complainant has referred to several tweets by the actor on various subjects. He has cited the example of Kangana's tweet on Mumbai turning into "Pakistan Occupied Kashmir", her calling state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh as 'Talibani' etc.
Recently, Metropolitan Magistrate Jaydeo Ghule passed an order under Section 156(3) of CrPC after finding a prima facie case against the actor and her sister. Court observed-
"Search and seizure is necessary in this case, in such circumstances I have found it to be proper to pass order under Section 156(3) of CrPC."
Following this order, Bandra police issued summons to the 33-year-old actor and her sister to appear before Bandra police station on October 26 and 27.
With the backdrop of the above order by the Metropolitan Court, the complainant alleges that Kangana has tweeted against the judiciary. Her tweet states-
"Who all are fasting on Navratris? Picture clicked from today's celebrations as I am also fasting, meanwhile another FIR filed against me, Pappu Sena in Maharashtra seems to be obsessing over me…."
The complaint before Bandra Court was filed by Munnawarali Sayyed, a casting director in the Hindi Film Industry who sought FIR to be registered for offences punishable under Sections 153 A, 295 A, 124 A r/w 34 of IPC.
Earlier this month, a court in Karnataka had ordered registration of FIR against Kangana over her tweets against farmers protests.
