237 Advocates Applied for Delhi HC Senior Designation [Read Notification]

As per the notice issued by the Secretariat of the Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates, Delhi High Court, a total of 237 Advocates have applied for the senior designation.
The applications were sent in response to three earlier notices issued by the Secretariat on 26.04.2019, 20.5.2019 and 14.08.2019, respectively.
The notice mentions that at per the terms of Rule 8 of The High Court of Delhi Designation of Senior Advocate Rules, 2018 suggestions/views, if any, of other stakeholders in the proposal for designation of the Advocates who have applied for conferment of designation as Senior Advocates, are invited for
consideration by the Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates (CDSA) for the purpose of
scrutiny and assessment of the applications so received.
The aforesaid Rule 8 provides for the Secretariat to compile the data on Advocates and create a database which would then be produced before the Committee. The Secretariat has to look for the following information regarding the Advocates:
- Reputation, conduct and integrity
- Participation in pro bono work
- Number of reported judgments in which the Advocate appeared for the last 5 years preceding the proposal for designation
- Such other information as directed by the Committee
The notice puts a deadline of 4 weeks from October 1 for submitting any suggestions/views to the Secretariat of the CDSA and any such suggestion shall be accompanied by the verifiable material.
