The Pro Bono Club and Legal Assistance Cell of the School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies, National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, in collaboration with the Gujarat State Human Rights Commission, is organizing the 2nd National Pro Bono and Legal Aid Conclave with the primary aim of promoting pro bono initiatives and enhancing legal aid awareness among the participants. This conclave provides an exceptional platform for students to expand their understanding of the legal -aid domain.
Justice Synergy, the core theme of the conclave, symbolizes the profound interconnection between legal systems and social justice, which serves as the bedrock of equitable governance and societal harmony. Through this platform, the Justice Synergy empowers citizens and reinforces the role of law as a tool for transformative justice.
This Conclave features a consultation with stakeholders from the access-to- justice industry and hosts seven competitions. These events are centred around three core themes:
THEME 1: Bridging the Justice Gap: An inclusivist approach to Legal Aid.
1. Consultation Session: This theme is designed to initiate meaningful dialogue and encourage collaboration among a diverse range of stakeholders, including panel advocates, high court lawyers, law students, NGOs, and justice-oriented teams. By bringing together individuals from different legal and social sectors, the event strives to create a space where various perspectives can converge to tackle one of the most pressing issues in the justice system: the accessibility and equity of legal aid.
It is crucial to note that this theme is not intended as a competition, but rather as a platform for collaborative dialogue and collective problem- solving. Participants are encouraged to engage in open, respectful discussions and contribute their expertise to develop practical, scalable solutions for improving legal aid systems.
THEME 2: Citizen Empowerment: Health, Governance, and Technology.
The following competitions are conducted under this theme:
1. Public Cause Pursuit (PIL Drafting)
2. Claim It! (Consumer Complaint Drafting)
