National Law University Odisha’s Centre for Public Health Law in association with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is organising the "3rd NLUO PHFI Public Health Law National Virtual Moot Court Competition" from 7th to 10th September, 2023.
About the Moot Court Competition
NLUO takes pride in pioneering the development and teaching of ‘Public Health Law’ as a specialised course in India. We offer a streamlined study of ‘Public Health Law’ as an elective course, away from the shadow of Constitutional Law, Medicine and Law and Bioethics. While the Covid-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on just the subject there is a need for broader engagement with administrators, academicians, lawyers, and law students across the country to critically analyse the role of law in making health a realizable goal and ensuring distributive fairness in the allocation of critical health infrastructure. What better way to do it and cudgel the young minds than a moot court competition? With an aim to expand our reach to law students across the country and make them think and research about various nitty-gritties of byzantine legal rules and principles that form the bedrock of the public health apparatus, we are organising this 3rd PHFI-NLUO Public Health Law Virtual National Moot Court Competition. The purpose of this moot is to armour budding lawyers with research skills and arguments on the growing tussle between the public health issue of obesity and the private corporate interest to push for food which may be harmful to human health.
