NUJS Kolkata Holds Its 14th Convocation With Grandeur; Oxford Alumna Priya Garg Bags 13 Gold Medals/Prizes

One of the most prestigious law universities in India, National University of Juridical Sciences Kolkata (NUJS) organized its 14th Convocation Ceremony with grandeur at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre Kolkata on 30th October 2022.
Ghaziabad resident, Ms Priya Garg made the city proud at national level by winning 13 academic honors for being rank 1 and highest scorer in 10 subjects. These were the highest number of medals awarded to one person at the 14th convocation which saw the graduation of various batches together.
The convocation was organized on an unprecedented scale among the Indian law schools. Dignitaries such as the Chief Justice of India, Justice UU Lalit, Chief Justice of Bangladesh Supreme Court, Hasan Foez Siddique, Chief Minister West Bengal Ms Mamata Banerjee, IIT Bombay Director Subhasis Chaudhuri and various other high-level ministers and higher judiciary judges were present.
Ms Garg is an alumna of Oxford (UK) where she studied for LLM as an Oxford-India Centre scholar and KC Mahindra Trust Scholar. At Oxford too, Ms Garg made the country proud by winning the coveted Oxford Union elections. Many renowned public servants and politicians of the UK have been office bearers at Oxford Union in their studenthood days. Earlier, she was also offered admission by LSE, Cambridge, University of Pennsylvania (US), UC Berkeley, New York University for pursuing LLM.
Ms Garg completed her school education from Delhi Public School Rajnagar Ghaziabad where she was the Head Girl as well.
NUJS is ranked among the top 5 law universities in India as per the NIRF ranking. To secure admission in NUJS, one needs to appear for a national level law examination Common Law Admission Test. NUJS alumni go on to study at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, LSE, Oxford, Cambridge, work in the most reputed law firms in India and abroad, secure top notch ranks in state judiciary examinations and get published in the high ranked law journals. NUJS is one of the only two law universities in India, whose Chancellor is the Chief Justice of India.
Ms Garg has been a law researcher to Supreme Court judges Justice PS Narasimha and Justice Bela Trivedi. Her articles have been published in national dailies like Indian Express, Live Mint and international portals like Oxford Human Rights blog. She has presented her paper at IIM Ahmedabad and has trained civil servants at IIFT, Delhi.
On this occasion of becoming the valedictorian, Ms Garg thanked her parents and teachers who she says have always supported her and motivated her. She especially mentions her father for mentoring her throughout and understanding her better than herself. She advises students to be consistent, ambitious, bold, perseverant, disciplined and evolving in nature to succeed. She strongly believes in the law of attraction. In a male dominated legal world, examples such as Ms Garg's would serve as a motivation for many young girls and women to pursue legal education.
