    The edited book “Mediation: An Effective Mechanism for Peaceful Resolution of Disputes” was released at the Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 25th October, in the presence of Mr. Shiv Pratap Shukla, Governor of Himachal Pradesh (Chief Guest), Justice Prasant Kumar Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India (Special Guest of Honour) and Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India (Distinguished Guest of Honour).

    The book has been edited by Senior Professor (Dr) Usha Tandon, Founding Vice-Chancellor, Dr Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj and Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Mishra, Dean, Academic Affairs and Head of Department (HOD) at Dr B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat. The foreword has been written by Justice P.S. Narasimha, Judge, Supreme Court of India and is published by Bloomsbury.

    Senior Professor (Dr) Usha Tandon, Vice Chancellor, RPNLU, gave an opening address and highlighted how this book has grown out of an International Conference on Mediation organised by Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and Delhi School of Public Policy and Governance, IoE, University of Delhi in association with Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India.

    Senior Professor (Dr) V.K. Ahuja highlighted the importance of mediation and the relevance of this book in the present times. He expressed how India has ancient and deep roots of mediation in its history.

    The Law Minister addressed the gathering and said “Mediation is crucial, and without it, nothing will work now or in the future. It is a societal need, capable of resolving even the biggest issues. Mediation is suitable for all commercial and petty disputes and parties must be informed about the benefits of using mediation in resolution of the disputes”

    Justice Mishra congratulated Prof. Tandon and Prof. Mishra for this timely and significant book and said that it will be a valuable resource for legal professionals, students, the general public, and judges.

    Justice C.D. Singh, Judge, High Court of Allahabad, Sr. Professor V.K. Ahuja, Director, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice and Law Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, Dr. Seema Kaul Singh, Director Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies, Mr. Amit Kumar Ghosh, Additional Secretary, Government of India, Mr Rajat Aggarwal, IAS and Ms. Mohini Bhat, Mediator were also present in the gathering.
