Anand (Paediatrician, Former director of Jaslok Hospital), and the late Shri B. G. Deshmukh (Retired IAS officer and Chief secretary of Maharashtra), to promote transparency and accountability in governance and to inculcate values and enhance Sadbhavana in citizens. ‘A Colloquium On Gender Justice & Human Rights: Deciphering The Social And Legal Implications Of Samesex Marriage In India’
The discussion of same-sex marriage brings to light the long-standing debate between the philosophy of Originalism and the Living Organism perspective in interpreting the Constitution. It is further of great relevance to analyze specifically how same-sex marriages could be included within the confines of our Constitution. The topic of same-sex marriage exposes generations of hidden discrimination and ostracizing of certain people. It is necessary to discuss this once-considered ‘taboo’ topic to clarify prejudices, cease the spread of misinformation, and ensure that justice prevails. The ultimate objective of this colloquium is to create an atmosphere of understanding and critical analysis, which would be imperative in creating apt policy.
