    While inaugurating a 4-Day Training Program for the Police Officers, Smt. Nitika Pant, IPS, DCP Medchal highlighted the importance of comprehending the recent three criminal laws legislations namely the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The aim of these legislations is to update outdated laws, modernize the criminal justice system, bring innovations in trials and so on. She further emphasized on the inclusion of gender inclusivity, protection for victims, expediating justice system, summary trials for petty crimes etc.

    While welcoming the other delegates, Prof. (Dr.) Balakista Reddy, Dean-School of Law has underlined the saying that "ignorance of the law is no excuse" for the citizens in general and the police officers in particular. He emphasized the importance of citizens and law enforcement bodies staying informed about latest legal changes. Prof. Reddy went on highlighting the significance of Academic Social Responsibility (ASR), thereby the School of Law, Mahindra University can contribute more to the society and create better citizen of tomorrow.

    Advocate AP Suresh, a practicing criminal lawyer from Telangana High Court underscored the pivotal roles of the police, lawyers, and the courts within the criminal justice system. He emphasized the imperative of empowering these entities to ensure the effective enforcement of law. Further, Suresh asserted the greater complexity of the CrPC in comparison to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and stressed upon the significance of comprehending both. Furthermore, he raised concerns about delays in filing First Information Reports (FIRs) and advocates for stricter penalties to serve as deterrents against criminal activities.

    The program was also attended by 100 officers from different ranks and hierarchy including, Mr. G. Narasimha Reddy, ADCP, Mr. Srinivas Rddy, ACP, Medchal, Mr. Ramlu, ACP, Pet Basheerbag, along with faculty members from various law schools, including Mahindra University.

    A training material prepared by Prof. (Dr.) V. Balakista Reddy, Dean-School of Law and Dr. J. Lakshmi Charan, Faculty SOL at Mahindra University was also released by the dignitaries.
