HNLU: Career Development Conclave 2.0: Navigating New Vistas [October 2024 – March 2025]

Career Development Conclave 2.0

The eagerly awaited second edition of CDC, starting on 5th October 2024, offers a broader and more inclusive experience of a platform where titans of the legal fraternity will discuss contemporaneous issues of significance, for industry, academia and practice. With over 20 sessions planned, this edition will transcend national boundaries, welcoming resource persons and participants from diverse backgrounds and geographies. This initiative, driven by the unwavering dedication of the Internship & Recruitment Coordination Committee along with R-HaS, seeks to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for navigating their careers with success. Embracing the digital realm, the Conclave extends its reach far beyond physical constraints, fostering collaborative learning and networking among a global community of learners.

Objectives of CDC 2.0:

1. To promote collaboration between legal education, academia, and the legal industry.
2. To identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in various legal fields.
3. To create opportunities for students to connect with industry experts and gain valuable insights.
4. To introduce students to global dimensions of legal practice and provide them with a lens to look beyond domestic law practice.
5. To equip learners with knowledge of diverse career opportunities in law and the allied fields.

Structure & Schedule of the Programme

The Career Development Conclave 2.0 is designed to extend over six months, and apart from inaugural and valedictory sessions, it will encompass global colloquiums and sessions on different themes, as follows:

R-Has (Research – Hub & Spoke @ HNLU)

School of Law & Technology (SLT):

The SLT is dedicated to explore the legal, ethical, and policy implications of new and emerging technologies. Its key areas of focus encompass intellectual property, privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, digital commerce, artificial intelligence, and the policy impact on trade, commerce, and society.

It consists of following centres:

1. Centre for Innovation and IP Laws
2. Centre for Internet Governance & AI
3. Centre for Law & Sciences
4. Centre for WTO - WIPO Studies
5. Centre for Law & Forensics

School of Law & Governance (SLG):

The SLG specializes in research on the constitutional framework of governance, covering legislative, executive & judicial branches. It delves into comparative constitutional developments within the Indian context, analyses the efficiency of the justice delivery system.

It consists of following centres:

1. Centre for Constitutional Law & Federalism
2. Centre for Comparative Law
3. Centre for International Law & Diplomacy
4. Centre for Criminal Law Jurisprudence
5. Centre for Study on ADR & Justice Delivery System

School of Law & Public Policy (SLPP):

The SLPP is at the forefront of addressing multifaceted policy issues that have a far-reaching impact on the rights and well-being of citizens. It comprehensively explores the sociopolitical & economic rights of individuals across different societal segments. SLPP aims to understand and analyse the dynamic interplay between technology and business regulations, particularly how these factors influence the choices available to citizens.

It consists of following centres:

1. Centre for Consumer & Competition Laws
2. Centre for Infrastructure Laws
3. Centre for Law & Public Health
4. Centre for Privacy & Data Protection
5. Centre for Environmental Laws

School of Commercial Law & Arbitration (SCLA):

The SCLA is dedicated to in-depth research in the realm of business and corporate law. Its multifaceted research agenda encompasses a wide array of critical areas. It explores the impact of both domestic and foreign investments on national economies, shedding light on their implications. In addition, SCLA tackles the complex regulatory challenges inherent in the monetary system and conducts research on various financial institutions.

It consists of following centres:

1. Centre for Corporate Law & Governance
2. Centre for Banking & Insurance Laws
3. Centre for Investment Laws
4. Centre for Domestic & International Tax Laws
5. Centre for Securities Law

School of Law & Humanities (SLH):

Intersection of law and various humanities disciplines, including economics, sociology, political science, history, literature, and culture. It serves as a hub for aggregating and disseminating nuanced relationships between these humanities fields and the legal domain. SLH conducts comparative research linking social sciences and legal studies.

It consists of following centres:

1. Centre for Law & Economics
2. Centre for Law & Language
3. Centre for Study of Law & Indigenous People
4. Centre for Law & Sociology
5. Centre for Law & Human Rights
