The GNLU Centre for Women and Child Rights (GCWCR) was established in September 2020 to develop, promote and support advanced, interdisciplinary studies and research pertaining to women and child welfare, which lie at the intersection of law and policy. The Centre's ultimate goal is to ensure social justice, human rights, and enhanced quality of life for all the children and women in India, with a particular emphasis on equitable quality education, care, protection, and justice for marginalised and neglected women and children.

The Centre has collaborated with leading organizations such as the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the National Commission for Women (NCW), and Indus Action, among others, to conduct research studies, field investigations, and workshops. Under the Centre's guidance and supervision, students are actively engaged in research on Section 12(1)(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, NITI Aayog's Project SATH-E, and surrogacy laws in South Asia.
