The 1st edition of the NLUJ Essay Writing Competition organized by The Centre for Gender Studies at National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) in collaboration with Migration and Asylum Project (MAP) is centred on the theme of “Gender and Law”. The competition aims to provide a unique opportunity to the participants to foster critical thinking and encourage nuanced discussions on the intersectionality of gender and law.

The Centre for Gender Studies at NLUJ is an interdisciplinary centre established with the objective of studying questions of gender, sex, and sexuality in an interdisciplinary and comparative manner. It thereby fosters an inclusive and vibrant community of feminist academics, students, scholars, and artists concerned with issues of gender, sexuality and power in society by undertaking research, organizing conferences, panel discussions, and workshops, conducting informal dialogue on contemporary issues, and so on.

Founded in 2013 by former UN lawyers, Migration and Asylum Project (MAP) works to end the marginalisation of displaced and migrant communities by addressing human rights challenges, ensuring grassroots justice, and improving access to the legal system. Established by Roshni Shanker, it addresses gaps in traditional humanitarian aid, and is India's first and only dedicated organization catering to the issues of forces migration and displacement.
