    The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad was established in 1998. Since its inception, the university has been home to vital conversations on law and justice and used law as an instrument of social change. The Centre for Child and Youth Justice (CCYJ) was established by NALSAR University of Law as a specialised centre dedicated to advancing the rights and welfare of children & youth through research, advocacy and education. The mission of the Centre is to serve the children through law.

    The Centre is committed to promoting rigorous academic dialogue on critical issues pertaining to Child Rights and Youth Justice. In furtherance of its objectives, the Centre is pleased to announce the inaugural edition of the “Indian Journal of Child & Youth Justice”. This scholarly publication endeavors to augment the dialogue on child rights by providing a platform for the examination of their legal, social, psychological, developmental rights and policy dimensions. The journal seeks to address the multifaceted challenges confronting children and propose innovative legal and systemic interventions to secure their protection and well-being in line with the international standards. Through this initiative, CCYJ aspires to make a meaningful contribution to the enrichment of child rights jurisprudence and the broader effort to establish a robust and equitable structure for the protection and promotion of children's rights in India.

    Themes & Sub Themes

    The theme for the maiden edition of Indian Journal of Child & Youth Justice, Volume 1, Issue 1 is 'Juvenile Justice and Child Rights'. The sub-themes for the journal are as follows:

    • Child abuse
    • Child and International Public & Private Law
    • Child labour
    • Child Marriage
    • Child Trafficking
    • Children and Disability
    • Children in Cyberspace
    • Climate change and impact on children's rights
    • Crime against children
    • Right to education, health and development of Children
    • Role of Judiciary
    • Role of stakeholders such as governmental agencies, NGOs, school, family in child protection
    • Legal reforms

    The list of sub themes is indicative and authors are welcome to explore any research topic related to the main theme.

    Eligibility

    The journal invites contributions from legal practitioners, bureaucrats, policymakers, students and research scholars, NGOs and stakeholders with work expertise, interest in the domain.

    Submission Guidelines

    • Originality: Article/Case Comment/Book review must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
    • Co-authorship: Up to two authors allowed.
    • Language: English
    • Document format: Word (.doc or .docx format)
    • Word Limit: 3,000-5,000 words for short articles; 5,000-10,000 words for long articles and 1,500-3,000 words for case comments and book reviews.
    • Formatting:

    1.Font: Times New Roman, 12-point, double-spaced

    2. Margin: 1 inch on all sides

    3. Referencing Style: Bluebook 21st Edition

    How to Submit?

    Author(s) shall submit their manuscript through this Google Form only. Submissions made through any other mode will not be accepted.

    Fee

    There is No Submission/ Publication Fee.

    Selection Process

    Submissions will undergo a rigorous two stage blind review process. Based on the editorial board's recommendations, the submissions will be accepted and sent back to the authors to be revised, if required. In case of non-acceptance, no separate information will be given.

    Last date for the submission of the paper is 11:59 PM IST of 10 March, 2025.
