    The National Law University Delhi has launched the Eklavya Research Affiliation Programme (ERAP) in 2023, with the objective of engaging in interdisciplinary research and to evolve quality publications through collaborative learning. As a step forward, NLUD now proposes 'Eklavya 2.0', i.e., Eklavya Research and Writing Programme (ERWP), to develop multidisciplinary academic engagement between scholars in law and social sciences. This provides an opportunity for NLUD to invite interested scholars outside the University to interact, exchange and learn from legal academia and share their valuable scholarship to create integrated knowledge for wider dissemination in the form of publications.

    Thematic Areas

    Under ERWP, NLUD invites interested contributors to submit their proposals under the following broader themes (these are only indicative):

    • State and Non-State Legal Orders
    • Pluralism, Normative Diversity and (Legal) Consciousness
    • Gender, Culture and Law
    • Law, Technology and Challenges of Change
    • Law and (In)equalities
    • Sentencing, Philosophy and Practice
    • Movements and Law
    • Rethinking Politics and Freedom in the Anthropocene
    • The Politics of Migration and Displacement as a Form of Life
    • De-Growth and Law
    • Law, Business and Governance
    • Just Transitions and Policy Measures
    • Theoretical and Methodological Approaches to Liberal Education
    • Digital Spaces and Emerging Forms of Normative Ordering

    Process and Submission Guidelines

    Interested contributors should first submit a research proposal (max. 2500 words) online no later than 20th April 2025. The proposal should clearly outline the research question or purpose of the proposed paper, as well as how the paper contributes to current understanding in the identified research area. The proposal should also include a brief description of the empirical analysis used and/or an illustration of the theoretical/conceptual model to be developed. More details about the research proposal are given under heading 3 (ii).

    Out of the submitted proposals, 25 scholars will be invited to an in-person two-day workshop on 31st May–1st June 2025. The scholars will present their proposals before an expert panel. This two-day workshop is designed to deliver constructive feedback to the scholars. There will be research, reading, writing, and methodology-based exercises during the workshop.

    The exact details of the format of the workshop will be communicated to the selected applicants at a later date.

    Eligibility and Selection Process

    Submitted proposals will be assessed to shortlist scholars for the workshop based on the following criteria:

    1. Applicants must be a graduate in law or in any other field but should be willing to work on topics that have an interface with the law.
    2. Applicants must have quality research and writing skills. To this end, they must submit a sample publication in a quality journal or a writing sample.
    3. To be selected for the Eklavya 2.0 Workshop, applicants must complete an online application form and also upload the documents mentioned below:

    i. Expression of Interest for participating in the workshop (max. 300 words).

    ii. Publication Proposal with the following contents:
    a. Tentative research title of the proposed manuscript.
    b. Literature Review (max. 750 words): Mapping scholarly knowledge on the topic with an engagement to construct/de-construct the prevailing narrative.
    c. Research Statement and Relevance (max. 500 words): Demonstrating experience with issues that intersect significantly with the law.
    d. Research Questions and Scope (max. 750 words): Identifying specific knowledge contributions and outlining the research scope and limitations.
    e. Feasibility and Justification (max. 500 words): Detailing how the applicant plans to complete the paper and its publication feasibility within a year.

    1. Applicants will also have to upload their CV and academic transcripts.
    2. Applications must be submitted only via the online form.
    3. Submissions must be completed by 5:00 PM on 20th April 2025.

    Workshop and Certificate

    Workshop certificates will be provided to all the candidates participating in the workshop.

    Grant and Honorarium

    A participation grant of Rs. 5000/- will be given to selected candidates to facilitate attendance at the two-day workshop. Accommodation will not be provided. An appropriate honorarium, as may be decided by the University, is also proposed after the completion and publication of the assignment.
