NUJS And MCO Legals Host Two-Day Knowledge Enhancement Program On New Criminal Laws For IOCL Law Officers

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences ('NUJS'), in collaboration with MCO Legals (Meharia & Company) had conducted a Two-day Knowledge Enhancement Program on the New Criminal Laws - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 & Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023' for the law officers of Indian Oil Corporation Limited ('IOCL').
The workshop span over two-days – on 02.08.2024 at the campus of NUJS and on 03.08.2024, at the West Bengal State Office of IOCL.
The Program was formally inaugurated by Dr. Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti, Vice-Chancellor, NUJS, Kolkata, who set the tone for the 2-day workshop, followed by address of Shri Amit Meharia, Managing Partner, MCO Legals, Shri Kamal Gwalani, CS & ED (Law), IOCL and Shri Sanjay Kaushal, ED I/c (Law, Taxation & CA), IOCL.
Day 1 of the workshop, was divided into 4 sessions, addressed on Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 by Mr. Faisal Fasih, Assistant Professor, NUJS and Dr. Kavita Singh, Professor, NUJS. Post lunch sessions were addressed by Dr. Surja Kanta Baladhikari, Assistant Professor, NUJS on Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
On day 2 of the workshop, sessions were conducted by Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan, Associate Professor on Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 and Mr. Zohaib Rauf, Practising Advocate, High Court, Calcutta.
The two-day Knowledge Enhancement Program was summarised by Ms. Arjita Mukherjee, Faculty of Criminal Law at NUJS along with conducting of a MCQ session by MCO Legals.
The captivating sessions were a confluence of academic and practical issues specifically designed to address IOCL. The two-day workshop witnessed a display of enthusiasm from not only the Speakers/Presenters but also from the participants - discussing, deliberating and learning the new Criminal Laws making the workshop a truly stimulating and enriching experience for all.
