Justice Dilip Gupta Appointed As CESTAT President

Justice Dilip Gupta, former judge of the Allahabad High Court, will be appointed to the post of President, Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT). The proposal for appointment of Justice Gupta has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).Justice Gupta will be appointed in the scale of pay of Rs. 2,50,000 (fixed) for a period of 3 years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till he attains the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.

Justice Gupta is a former judge of the Allahabad High Court. Born in 1956, Justice Gupta enrolled as an advocate on 10th December 1981. He has worked as standing counsel for the Railways, U.P. State Cement Corporation, U.P. Co-operative Federation Ltd., Aligarh Muslim University, Lucknow University, Gorakhpur University, G.B. Pant Social Science Institute.

Justice Gupta was elevated as an additional judge on in January 2004, and he took oath as a permanent judge on 18th August 2005. Justice Gupta served at the Allahabad High Court till June 2018.
