IDIA’s Two-day Workshop on ‘Creating Inclusive Spaces’ [24th-25th Feb; Mumbai]

Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA) is organising a workshop and training program on Creating Inclusive Spaces:  Empowerment through Equality.

Dates: 24^th and 25^th February, 2018.

Through this sensitization workshop, IDIA hopes that a number of employers in the legal ecosystem and beyond will be more amenable to creating inclusive working spaces.

IDIA supports a number of visually impaired scholars who are studying in various law schools. Through their admissions to the leading law schools (through CLAT and other competitive law entrance exams), IDIA has busted the notion that they are unfit for the top law schools.

IDIA Disability Access Programme (I-DAP) was set up to commemorate the legacy of Rahul Cherian, a pioneering social justice advocate for the differently-abled.

IDIA receives a number of queries from law firms and other institutions on how they can support differently-abled scholars through internships (and later employment as well). This workshop would serve as a means to effectively sensitize and induce more employers to create inclusive workspaces.

Venue: To be confirmed, Mumbai

Attendees: Leading lawyers, law firm partners/associates, in-house counsels, civil society representatives, inclusion experts, IDIA scholars with disabilities, IDIA directors/volunteers, SPND representatives

• Day 1 (24^th) will be primarily for law firms and other legal employers (and anyone else interested in fostering inclusive workspaces).


• Day 2 (25^th) will be a soft skills training workshop for IDIA scholars with disabilities.

Resource People: The resource persons for the program will be disability-rights experts, specialised trainers, and persons with disabilities in the legal profession.
