The Telangana High Court has directed the Police authorities in Nirmal district to permit 'Lord Sri Veera Hanuman Yatra' procession today, on the eve of Hanuman Jayanti. However, it has restrained the procession holders from playing music within 150 meters of the nearby mosques.
Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy passed the interim direction to the Sub-divisional Police Officer and SHO concerned, in a writ petition filed by Ranjer Gangaprasad against refusal of permission citing 'communal sensitivity' of the area.
The petitioner contended that similar permission was refused on the day of the Ram Navami festival to hold the Sri Rama Shobha Yatra in Nirmal's Tanoor area. As per the authorities, three communal violence cases were recently reported in the area. However, the Court had set aside the refusal and granted permission to hold the Yatra, with certain restrictions.
Keeping this in mind, the bench allowed the petition and ordered,
“Respondent Nos..4 and 5 are directed to permit the petitioner to take out Lord Sri Veera Hanuman Vijava Yatra on 23.04.2021 on the eve of Sri Hanuman Jayanthi in Tanoor Village, Nirmal Mandal, Nirmal District, in the following route: "Starting from Vittaleshwar Mandir - Bus Stand - Telangana Grameena Bank - Kolli Galli - Post Office - ending at Vittalcshwar Tcmple" The petitioner shall not play music system within 150 meters of the nearby mosques. The petitioner shall also ensure that the persons with criminal antecedents do not participate in the Vijaya Yatra, The participants shall not raise any communal and politically sensitive and provocative statements during the programme.”
