Centre Notifies Appointment Of 3 Additional Judges Of Punjab & Haryana High Court

The Central Government has notified the appointment of three additional judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court.

They are as follows:

(i) Senior Advocate Sumeet Goel,

(ii) Advocate Sudeepti Sharma and

(iii) Advocate Kirti Singh

The Notification stated that they are appointed as "Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court for a period of two years, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices."

On October 17, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their names for appointment as Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

For Justice Sumeet Goel, the collegium stated that two of the three consultee-Judges have unanimously given a positive opinion on suitability of the candidate for appointment as a Judge of the High Court. "The other consultee-Judge has not offered any opinion." The inputs provided by the Department of Justice in the file indicate that he enjoys a good personal and professional image and that nothing adverse as to his integrity has come to notice, it added

Regarding Justices Sudeepti Sharma and Kirti Singh as well the collegium said that "inputs provided by the Department of Justice in the file indicate that the candidate enjoys a good personal image and that nothing adverse as to her integrity has come to notice."
