The Punjab And Haryana High Court Bar Association today passed a resolution deciding to boycott the Court of Justice Anil Kshetarpal with immediate effect while seeking his transfer to another High Court over his alleged misbehaviour with an advocate.
The decision to this effect was taken in an emergent meeting of the Executive Committee which was called to discuss the complaint given by a member of the Association, Advocate Herbans Lal Sharma against Justice Kshetarpal, with regard to his uncalled-for misbehaviour in the Court Room.
This resolution passed by the Association states that Advocate Sharma, in his complaint to the Association, has alleged that Justice Kshetarpal insulted and misbehaved with him, following which, it was decided to boycott his court.
The resolution also adds that earlier also, the Association had received a complaint against Justice Kshetarpal by an Advocate, pursuant to which, a requisition was also received in the office of the Association to convene a General House meeting and to take action on the complaint given against Justice Kshetarpal with regard to his misbehaviour and thereafter, the members of the Executive Committee met with Justice Kshetarpal on numerous occasions and requested him not to misbehave with the Members.
As per the media reports, the decision by the Association was taken today after Justice Kshetarpal refused to allow a senior lawyer to continue his argument and thereafter, imposed a Rs 5 lakh fine during a court proceeding. Some lawyers also resorted to a sit-in protest outside the high court premises over this issue.
