Centre Notifies Appointments Of 3 Additional Judges Of Punjab & Haryana High Court As Permanent Judges

The Central Government on Wednesday (March 26) notified the appointments of three additional judges, which includes two women, as permanent judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The Collegium in its meeting held on March 19 approved the proposal for appointment of the following Additional Judges as Permanent Judges of Punjab & Haryana High Court:
(i) Shri Justice Sumeet Goel,
(ii) Smt. Justice Sudeepti Sharma, and
(iii) Ms. Justice Kirti Singh

Justice Sumeet Goel completed his law degree at the Law Campus, Delhi University. He enrolled as an Advocate at the Bar in 1996 and was subsequently designated as a Senior Advocate. He appeared extensively in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in criminal, constitutional, civil, and arbitration cases on behalf of private litigants as well as corporate entities. The judge served as the Retainer Counsel-cum-Special Public Prosecutor for the Central Bureau of Investigation at the High Court of Punjab and Haryana from 2011 to 2022. He also served as Standing Counsel for the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation and the Food Corporation of India. Additionally, he was a Panel Counsel for, among others, the UT Administration of Chandigarh, nationalised insurance companies, Kurukshetra University, Guru Jambheshwar University (Hisar), Central University of Haryana, Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board, and Haryana Urban Development Authority. He worked as a Special Engagement Counsel for the Union of India and was also a Panel Advocate in the office of the Advocate General of Haryana.

Justice Sudeepti Sharma obtained law degree from H.P. University, Shimla. Throughout her educational journey, the judge actively participated in NSS, contributed to adult literacy programs, and engaged in Community Oriented Policing with Chandigarh Police. Justice Sharma has been a member of the Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association since 1998. Commencing her professional journey as a private counsel, the judge practiced law in various courts, including the Punjab & Haryana High Court, District Courts in Chandigarh, and tribunals. Notably, she served as a Punjab State Law Officer, Commencing as an Attached Assistant Advocate General in the office of the Advocate General, Punjab, on July 13, 2005, she progressed to become Deputy Advocate General on September 23, 2008, and subsequently served as Additional Advocate General till August 20, 2022.

Justice Kirti Singh completed her her LLB degree from the Department of Laws, Panjab University and thereafter got enrolled as an advocate in 1998 and started practicing at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Justice Singh was appointed as an Assistant Advocate General, Punjab (2005-2006) and Haryana (2007-2009). Thereafter, she was appointed as a Deputy Advocate General, Haryana (2010-2023). The judge was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on 6 November 2023.
