A PIL has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking an investigation by a national agency in the allegations made by MLA P. V. Anwar against Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) M.R. Ajith Kumar.

The Chief Minister had declared on September 2 that an investigation would be conducted to look into these allegations. Unsatisfied by the progress of the investigation, the petition was filed before the High Court.

According to the plea, a recorded phone call between the MLA Anwar and Pathanamthitta Superintendent of Police Sujit Das was leaked to the media on August 3.

It further states that in the audio, it was mentioned that the ADGP was very powerful due to his connection with P. Sasi, Political Secretary of the Chief Minister. After the audio was leaked, the MLA raised various allegations against the ADGP.

It is stated that Anwar said that the ADGP was involved in a gold smuggling gang and the police would only report a fraction of the gold seized from the Karipur airport. He also said that the officer had links with gangs involved in gold smuggling and had got people killed in this regard.

He also said that the officer is taping phone calls of politicians and ministers. The allegation also includes helping to acquit several politicians involved in the Solar Scam. The MLA further said the ADGP is constructing a palatial building in Kowdiar where a cent costs more than Rs. 60 lakhs.

The petitioner said that the police are trying to cover up the matter as there as it involves influential people. He further alleges that the police cannot conduct a fair probe into an offence committed by a senior police officer.

The plea was moved by Advocate Joseph Rony Jose
