The Kerala High Court has issued a notice to introduce the e-Post service of India Post as a new method for the service of summons/notices/ orders to respondents. In the pilot phase, this facility will be available only in Trivandrum and will be extended to other districts later.

This facility can be used when the Court orders service of notice through e-post or Speed post or when no means of delivery is specified. When the Court specifically orders the service through Registered Post, e-post cannot be used.

E-post is a hybrid service where the digitally signed notice will be sent to the inbox of the e-post nodal office to which the pin code of the recipient belongs. The notice and case file will be downloaded by the postal department and will be sent to the recipient. The notice will be delivered to the recipient one day after it is dispatched to the dashboard of the Postal Department.

The circular details the manner in which an Advocate who holds the Vakalat or Memorandum of Appearance or a Party in Person can send notices through e-post.
