[Pantheerankavu Domestic Violence Case] Husband Accused Of Attempting To Strangle Wife With Cable Wire Moves Kerala High Court To Quash Criminal Proceedings

The husband and family in the Pantheerankavu Domestic Violence case have approached the Kerala High Court on 19/06/2024 to quash further proceedings in the crime registered against them. The petitioner claimed that the matter had been settled between the de-facto complainant/ wife of the 1^st accused and they were ready to live together.

Rahul P. Gopal was accused of domestic violence by his wife. He and his family were booked under Sections 324, 498A, 307 and 212 of the Indian Penal Code. An FIR was registered against them at Pantheerankavu Police Station. The de facto complainant alleged that the 1^st accused assaulted her and attempted to strangle her using cable wire.

The petitioner urged before the High Court that the allegations were false and it was just a trivial matrimonial dispute. It was argued that the complaint was lodged under some misunderstanding and that any further police intervention would hamper their normal married life.

The matter came up before Justice A. Badharudeen who directed the Public Prosecutor to get instructions from the State authorities.
