The Kerala High Court on Thursday extended the time granted to former Senior Government Pleader P.G. Manu to surrender in an alleged sexual assault case involving a female client.
A single judge bench of Justice Gopinath P granted him 10 more days to surrender to the Police.
Manu had resigned from his post as Senior Government Pleader following allegations of raping the woman victim who had approached him for legal advice. It is however his case that the prosecution allegations are false and the registration of the case is a 'calculated attempt' on the part of his professional rivalries.
Court noted that the former Senior Government Pleader has moved the Supreme Court against its order rejecting his plea for anticipatory. He was directed to surrender before the investigating officer within a period of ten days from December 22, 2023.
Justice Gopinath has made it clear that no further extension of time will be granted to him under any circumstances.
The plea has been moved through Advocates C.P. Udayabhanu, P Vijaya Bhanu, Navaneeth N. Nath, Rassal Janardhanan A., Abhishek M. Kunnathu, Boban Palat, P.U. Pratheesh Kumar, P.R. Ajay, K.U. Swapnil, Nikita Mendez and Sruthy Bhat.
