    The Karnataka High Court has introduced a Neutral Citation system for all its disposed of Judgments and Orders.     The Karnataka High Court has introduced a Neutral Citation system for all its disposed of Judgments and Orders.

    The unique court-assigned Neutral Citation for the high court is as follows:

    Principal Bench: 2023:KHC:<Citation Number> - Example: 2023:KHC:1.

    Dharwad Bench: 2023:KHC-D:<Citation Number> - Example: 2023:KHC-D:1.

    Kalaburagi Bench: 2023:KHC-K:<Citation Number> - Example: 2023:KHC-K:1.

    The users can Search by Citation Number under judgments page on the website:


    "The user may visit the Karnataka High Court website and upon visit in Case Status (in-detail) the Neutral Citation assigned to each Case can be seen," Registrar Computers N G Dinesh said.

    "Similarly, in the Judgments menu of the High Court website when navigated, there is a provision of search by citation number, in which, search of citation number by order date is provided, which further provides for viewing/downloading the Judgments corresponding with Case details, party details, Neutral Citation number and order date, same also now has value addition like QR code to verify the authenticity of content of Judgments and digital signature without any water mark."

    Dinesh said the major advantage of Neutral Citation for the Litigants, Advocates, Government Department and students of Law is that, same are Court assigned Citations having source of authenticity and accessible through internet.  "More importantly, there will be no access or subscription barriers ensuring easy access to all," he added.

    Chief Justice of India Dr Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud inaugurated the ‘Neutral Citation for the Indian Judiciary’ on May 06 at Cuttack in Odisha State.
