The Karnataka High Court on Friday directed the State Government to consider the representation made by the State BJP General Secretary seeking permission to organise a peaceful march (Padayatre) from Bengaluru to Mysore on August 3 and to provide police protection.
The march is being organised in order to protest against the multi-crore scams relating to Valmiki Corporation and Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
A single judge bench of Justice Hemant Chandangoudar passed the order while hearing the petition filed by P Rajeev.
The petitioner claimed he sent follow-up emails on 01-08-2024 to the concerned authorities requesting an update on the representations made on 30-07-2024 to which no reply or endorsement was issued. Thus he approached the court.
The plea claims the MUDA scam is directly related to the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah in which he allegedly masterminded a 3000 crore scam in a site allotment scheme for the people whose land was acquired for development by the MUDA.
The issue surfaced when it was brought to light that the wife of the Chief Minister was allotted 14 sites in an upmarket area by the MUDA in return for acquiring 3.16 of her land in Kesare village of Mysuru.
